EURIMAGES
On December 19, 2019, the Ukrainian Parliament adopts the law on Ukraine joining the European Fund for Support of Joint Production and Distribution of Artistic Cinematographic and Audiovisual Works 'Eurimages' which promotes independent film production by providing financial support for the feature, animated, and documentary films and boosts international cooperation.
Ukraine is a Member State of Eurimages since 17 January 2020.
Film projects supported by Eurimages:
- Ukrainian projects created with the support of the Ukrainian State Film Agency 'Spas' by Maxym Nakonechnyi and 'Rhino' by Oleh Sentsov received 395 thousand euros of financial support.
- Ukrainian-Italian co-production film project directed by Andrea Magnani 'Long Run' received 180 thousand euros of total financial support from the fund.
- The film project of director Roman Bondarchuk 'The Editorial Office', one of the winners of the 14th Competition run by the Ukrainian State Film Agency, received 140 thousand euros of total financial support from the Eurimages Foundation.
Eurimages is the cultural support fund of the Council of Europe. Established in 1989, it currently numbers 39 of the 47 member states of the Strasbourg-based Organisation, plus Argentina and Canada as Associate members.
Eurimages promotes independent filmmaking by providing financial support to feature-length films, animation and documentary films. In doing so, it encourages co-operation between professionals established in different countries.
Eurimages has a total annual budget of approximately €27.5 million. This financial envelope derives essentially from the contributions of the member states as well as returns on the loans granted.
