Subsidies
Every year, The Ukrainian State Film Agency holds pitching sessions in various categories of film projects (feature, non-fiction, amateur, debut films, children's, TV series, etc.) and, among other things, supports co-production projects with maximum funding of about 800,000 euros.
Categories for competitive selection:
- international co-production – a film of any kind, produced (created) and funded by two or more film producers, with at least one foreign producer among them. There are majority and minority international co-productions;
- majority international co-production is an international co-production in which the share of the Ukrainian film producer is the largest in the total budget of the film;
- minority international co-production is an international co-production in which the share of the Ukrainian film producer is not the largest in the total budget of the film.
The Council for State Support of Cinematography recommended when submitting documents for competitive selection in 2021 to take into account the limits on the amount of state support allocated for 1 project:
- feature films (national and international co-productions) for a wide audience – UAH 25 000 000 (EUR 817 000);
- feature films of artistic and cultural significance (independent), national and international co-productions – UAH 20 000 000 (EUR 654 000);
- non-fiction films of international co-production – UAH 2 000 000 (EUR 65 359);
- fiction TV series – UAH 1 000 000 (EUR 32 679) for one episode;
- non-fiction TV series – UAH 1 000 000 (EUR 32 679) for one episode;
- animated TV series – UAH 1 000 000 (EUR 32 679) for one episode;
- animated feature films (independent) – UAH 25 000 000 (EUR 817 000);
- animated feature films (for a wide audience) – UAH 30 000 000 (EUR 980 392).
Financial support of film promotion
Apart from the financial support of production, the State Cinema also supports the promotion of Ukrainian films and films created in co-production with other countries that are recognized as national in accordance with international agreements.
