The documentary film «Diary of the Bride of Christ», created with the support of the Ukrainian State Film Agency will be screened at the Franco-Ukrainian Young Film Festival «MICT» on December 2nd.

In «Diary of the Bride of Christ», the film's director Marta Smerechynska faces her fears and plunges into the reality of her sister Nastia, a Greek Catholic nun, in the Convent of the Brides of Christ in Western Ukraine, to re-examine the world in which they both grew up. The relationship between Marta and Nastia, who has given up everything worldly to become part of the religious world, also reflects the experiences of other families and their daughters who have joined a closed monastic community. Marta discusses her feelings with other nuns and interviews them, while the other nuns see Marta as a connection to their past and families. The director seeks to find an answer to the question of why young girls decide to follow the centuries-old church by choosing the path of nuns.

The film was produced by Digital Religion LLC with the support of the Ukrainian State Film Agency. The producers are Vitaliy Sheremetyev and Natalia Libet.

The Franco-Ukrainian Young Film Festival «MICT» will take place from November 29 to December 2, 2023.
