«UKRAINIAN SPIRITUAL FILM FESTIVAL» TOOK PLACE IN ROME

«Ukrainian Spiritual Film Festival» took place in Rome.

«Ukrainian Spiritual Film Festival» took place from 8 to 10 December 2023.

The official opening of the «Ukrainian Spiritual Film Festival» took place with the participation of a large audience, representatives of the diplomatic corps and Ukrainian clergy, Apostolic Exarch of the Ukrainian Catholics of the Byzantine Rite in Italy Dionysiy Liakhovych, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Holy See Andriy Yurash, President of the Religious Association «Saint Sophia» and Rector of the Minor Basilica of Santa-Sophia Mark Yaroslav Semegen.

In addition to talking to the spiritual leaders of the Ukrainian community in Rome, the festival guests had the opportunity to talk to Oleksandr Shchur, the producer of the film «Bucha», which had its pre-premiere screening immediately after the opening ceremony of the «Ukrainian Spiritual Film Festival».

During the festival, the audience had the opportunity to watch 8 Ukrainian feature films:

- «Bucha» (pre-premiere technical screening on the day of the official opening of the event), directed by Stanislav Tiunov

- «Shchedryk» directed by Olesya Morgunets-Isaenko

- «The Rising Hawk» directed by Akhtem Seitablaev

- «Black Raven» directed by Taras Tkachenko

- «The Guide» directed by Oles Sanin

- «Mykyta Kozhumyaka» directed by Manuk Depoyan

- «DZIDZIO: The First Time» directed by Mykhailo Khoma, Taras Drone

- «Hutsulka Ksenia» directed by Olena Demyanenko

Hundreds of viewers attended the screenings of contemporary Ukrainian films.

The festival was organised with the support of the Embassy of Ukraine to the Holy See, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, the Ukrainian State Film Agency and the Religious Association for Ukrainians in Rome «Saint Sophia».
